Q:   I am about to turn my cows and calves into a pasture that has several large patches of poison ivy. Anything to worry about?

A:   The poison ivy is unlikely to affect the cattle -it is not poisonous to them. However, cattle usually find poison ivy unpalatable, so they may not eat it if given a choice. Cattle can carry the plant's oils on their hide, so that people having direct contact with the cattle could develop the rash.
